Personal Care
Mountain View Centers provides 24-hour care and supervision, which means staff are around the facility 24 hours a day. It does not mean the staff is with a resident on a 1:1 basis. Daily assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, escorting, & personal hygiene is offered as needed to encourage each resident to perform at the highest level possible. Incontinence service is provided at an additional cost.
Meals

Mountain View Centers provides 3 delicious, nutritious meals and in-between snacks. Special diet prescribed by the physician, such as low sodium, diabetic, or pureed diet, is also provided. Meals are served in our elegant dining room. Our staff will feed residents if the resident cannot self-feed.

With as-needed assistance, our residents prepare three well-balanced meals per day. Meals are prepared in compliance with the USDA basic food group guide. The home provides for any special diet requirements that are prescribed by the resident’s doctor or dietitian.

Medication Management
Mountain View Centers provides monitoring, ordering, and assisting in the self-administration of medications prescribed by the physician. It also monitors PRN and over-the-counter medications. All medications are centrally stored in a locked cabinet or a locked refrigerator at a central location in the home.

Impact of challenging behaviors:

Over Medication/Chemical Restraint

Janet was at Assisted Living with a private nurse who monitored blood pressure and medication doses. Side effects were numerous, so with her doctor’s help, most of the medications were discontinued. Since then, she has lived for 8 1/2 years.

Our Solution: 75-80% of our residents are not on psychotropic medication. So residents and family can enjoy the quality of life at every stage of the disease.

Side Effects of Medication

Dorothy was given several psychotropic medications because of her combativeness and inability to sleep at night. When she was taking medication, she was more confused and could not find the bathroom, so she had more accidents; she started to fall and broke a hip. She had surgery and could not walk. It was not Alzheimer’s but the medication that made her go downhill.

Our Solution: Working with physicians to determine the need for medication allows us to reduce the psychotropic medications and the side effects of it. Staff knowledge about what is usual behavior and how to manage the behavior will provide the best solution for Dementia/Alzheimer’s patients at Mountain View Alzheimer’s Center.

Palliative care is specialized medical care for those with serious illnesses. At Mountain View Centers, we focus on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness. We hope to improve the quality of life for both the patient and the family.
